Meet the Mister:
I had no concept of how much a child can love an inanimate object until Abrielle met Mr. Teddy. Jake and I brought Mr. Teddy home after a day at Lagoon. We gave up our locker rental refund to bring this little friend back to our then tiny little girl. They have been inseparable ever since.
Mr. Teddy has seen his share of hardship in his short life. He suffers severely from Male-Pattern-Baldness. What hair he has left is thin and completely missing in patches. Mr. Teddy had steroid injections completed and was completely re-stuffed with material to help plump him up. He has had a complete nose job done and botox injections to his eyes. He has had a hernia repaired and has had open heart surgery. He had to have a limb sewn back on and has had more stiches than can be counted. He has had a couple of wardrobe changes/makeovers and lately he has started a series of skin grafts that will continue throughout the remainder of his life. After diagnosing the unsuccessful nature of stiches the skin grafts are being used to cover up any holes that continue to appear in Mr. Teddy's thin skin.
But through it all Mr. Teddy has the constant companionship of a loving and adoring little girl who cannot be found without him a few feet away. He is the subject of countless make believe stories. He can fly and he loves burritos and salsa. He loves riding on Abrielle's bike although he gets in trouble from time to time for not holding on tightly enough.
He is also loving and patient through the many scoldings he receives when Abrielle gets frustrated and decides to express her anger by hitting Mr. Teddy or yelling at him. She makes sure to give him lots of hugs and kisses to make up for these episodes of anger and impatience.
When he has to face the trauma of a "bath" he can be sure that his Abrielle is sitting by the washing machine to make sure that he is alright. And constantly asking mommy if she can check on him. He is also sure to make it through every scary part of a movie he watches with Abrielle holding him and saying, "It's okay Teddy. Abrielle is here. It's alright. I'll hold you."
He is the best friend, the partner in crime, the comfort and the best lovey a girl could ask for.
Who knew a little kid could love a $3 teddy bear so much?
Did you have a "lovey" when you were a kid? Do your kids carry around an object like it is a part of their body? Tell me about it!
Love, Shayla
